Nanaya Ice Cream Level 5 of 7

“A matcha lover’s dream.” The best description you could possibly give this place. If you don’t like matcha or know someone who does, this post isn’t for you~ sorry!

They are about a 20-minute walk from the Karasuma subway line.
The store is narrow so if you’re traveling with kids, you may want to take turns in the store. Brian stayed upfront with our daughter while I walked to the back, and then we switched. Then we got some ice cream - they also have non-matcha flavors such as Ichigo (strawberry) and vanilla - and sat outside. We stayed outside for about 15 minutes, allowing Evee to get out of the stroller and stretch her legs for a little bit before heading off again.

We picked up several of their gift boxes that have 2 sticks of each level of matcha and their hojicha. Hojicha is also green tea, but roasted in a porcelain pot over charcoal rather than steamed. My favorite level is a 4 - the perfect level of sweetness. Brian liked levels 5 and 6. We also picked up their matcha salt and it’s amazing with Korean BBQ and Japanese Yakiniku style meats. Their matcha salt comes in a package; when you open it, there are several individual packets. Don’t be fooled or worried that you bought a drink mix because you didn’t. They are packaged that way to keep it dry and fresh.

Are you a matcha lover??
