Street Go-Kart Tour Akihabara || Japan

Street Go-Kart at a stop light on the road.

One of the first places I added to our “Must See” list for our trip to Japan was Street Kart. I’ve seen this so many times on social media and my family has gone before, which only added to the excitement.

After the tour, I can see why they’ve been rated #1 in Activities to do in Chiyoda, Japan, and given a Trip Advisor Travelers’ Choice Award 2024.

Cost and Worth It?

When we booked, it cost about $90 USD or 1,500Y (yen) and I think it’s well worth the price. What is included? Your tour guide and their partner - your guide leads the group, and there is another person at the back to make sure everyone stays together and no one gets left behind - the fuel for the go-karts, goggles, costume (if you choose to wear one), and many photos! The website also says they will provide a helmet for free, however, no one in my group asked for one. The goggles are off to the side and I suggest you wear them! You are sitting LOWER than the other vehicles and when they are in motion, they can kick up debris on the roads into your eyes.
The tour is about 1.5 - 2 hours long and we made one stop where we pulled over and got out of the karts to take pictures in front of / across the street of the older side of Tokyo Station.

How To Book

We booked from their direct website [ here ], where you can contact and reserve spaces through the messaging app, LINE. You can also book through TripAdvisor on their page, which is linked [ here ]. They book up quickly so once you have your trip planned out, book!

Family Friendly?

No. Not if your kids DO NOT have a driver’s license. You will need an International Drivers Permit (IDP) to complete the reservation and they will check when you check-in at the location. You can obtain an IDP at your local AAA - you’ll need your passport and driver’s license, and $20.

Our trip advisor review for the Akihabara Tour for Street Kart. Rated 5 out of 5 stars. Guide was amazing and made the experience easy and fun.
